PROFILE VISION AFRICA NGO
“Empowering women and children on the ground”

Background
Vision Africa is a women non-profit organization strives to promote sustainable economic development, advocacy and regulations. Vision Africa has been established on: 20 November 2005 at Johannesburg, Registration number .048-429-NPO.

The organization has been established to provide skills to women and children by increasing potential that Information and Communication Technologies are having on the socio-economic and technological progression within the development discourse. We do not wish to restrict our operation to a particular race. Our focus is to deliver quality skills through trainings, conferences and workshops, to women and children who have been found in major rural, townships and inner city areas and that this group will continue to be our major focus of attention.

The notion that prudent application of ICT’s in the areas of education, HIV/AIDS, culture, media, human rights and so on can have positive outcomes in classic development objectives such as poverty reduction, women and children empowerment and increasing access to new knowledge, are important consideration that need to be evaluated in the context of women developmentOur visionEmpowering women and children living conditions, rights and developing leadershipOur missionIn the pursuit of its vision and in order to ensure that the legacy of its members, Vision Africa strives to:

Promoting sustainable economic development among women and children
Increasing potential that Information and Communication Technologies are having on the

Providing for women and children physical, emotional, educational, heath and development
needs and re-socializing those whose behaviour has been become socially unacceptable and
provide a sense of selt-esteem.

Our Values and principles
Vision Africa’s target groups are women and children who come from impoverished backgrounds.

To maximize the positive impact of our resources, Vision Africa works closely with fellow
development organizations; government, the private sector and others interested parties. The
following value and principles guide the establishment of our partnerships with organization who.
Position their ultimate goal as childcare and development

Promote best practice, encourage professionalism among women through ICTs, and be oriented
towards achieving measurable results

Build civil society formations and regional NGO networks which are capacitated to articulate their
priority needs as far as ICT, HIV/AIDS policies and regulations;

Facilitate change, through culture and their work, of societal norms and practice those
women to focus only on their basic needs;

Promote the rights of women and children through the influence of public policy and social
awareness.

Our strategiesT
he project is broken down into six strategies complimentary strategy pillars that integrate seamlessly.

Output1: Initiate contact with women and vulnerable children through outreach programme including those living in the stress to provide them support and IT skills

Output5. Develop an ICT-AIDS regional driven project communication and networking channel that includes a policy monitor website, an e-newsletter publication, a collaborative space,
webbloging capacity and e-discussion community of practice

Output6. Developing a fundraising driven programme through Information Technologies
(IT) activities and Media


Corporate governance
A voluntary Board of Trustees governs vision Africa. The Trustees have been chosen because of their expertise in various areas that are relevant to the programme. The Board of Trustees gives expert advice, input and time, and are responsible for supporting the programmes and for overseeing the project.


Executive committee
The Executive committee manages the day-to-day operations of the Organization. Together with the Executive Team we have a group of volunteers who offer their services regularly. These services include: assistance in education, skill development, organizing fundraising events and career guidance. An Executive-Director manages the Organization

Our activities 2008
November 2007, Vision Africa has trained 40 children/Youth including refugee children on the use of ICT, sponsored by Builders Warehouse. ICT skills have been given to children/youth from communities. We do appreciate and thanking Builders Warehouse. Others Donors will be welcome to support our ICT and Training Project.

Establishing Vision Africa women consultation Forum : 56 women actually are member of the forum.
Establishing our community telecenter: 10 computers to empower women and children on the use of ICTs
